J.O.Y. Ministry (Just Older Youth)

Hosts activities that address the spiritual, educational, and social needs of Senior Adults. The purpose of the ministry is to provide Christian fellowship, encouagement, friendship, compassion and outreach. Monthy activities are planned throughout the year. More information about these activities can be found in our weekly bulletin. Sign up sheets are in the Welcome Center.

August 26 - SCC Family Camp at White Mills

Tour camp, walk river trail, swim, games of all kinds: gaga ball, Frisbee golf, 9 square, fishing, zipline; bring your dominoes. Lunch in newly remodeled air conditioned dining hall. Bring own basket or sack lunch. Drinks provided. Sign up & $5 bus fee due August 20. Leave 8am, return 6pm.

September 14 - Stepping Stones 2017 at Valley View Church, 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Mark's Feed Store & Gold City Quartet.

"Shower your Neighbors with Love" - Donate personal care items to local area ministries (i.e. body soap, shampoo, hand soap, deodorant, etc.) This annual event sponsored by the Owen Family, features a tasty buffet meal and southern gospel concert. Tickets are first-sign up, first serve basis and will be available after August 28. If you are unable to recieve a ticket, you may stll attend the concert at 1:00 p.m. Plan to drive on your own and arrive early.

September 21 - Tour Claiborne Farms in Paris, KY

A historic Thoroughbred operation for over 100 years. Visit breeding sheds, walk the rows of stallion barns. Visit gravesite of Secretariat and other legendary champions. Gratuity, $5 - $10 per person given to groom for tour. Visit Imogene Wesner after lunch. Sign up, $8 bus fee due September 10. Leave at 8am, return 6pm.

W.O.W. Ministry

Provides fellowship and a time of sharing for senior adults through the churches visitation ministry. They meet the third Thursday of each month at 10:30 a.m. to visit SCC members who are shut-in, in the hospital, residents of health care facilities and retirement homes. Lunch at a local restaurant is included. Anyone is welcome to serve. Several ladies also send notes of encouragement to first time guests, members and shut-ins.
